The Resilience of Olivier Giroud

Written by @Izublingz64
Olivier Giroud signed for Arsenal on 12th June 2012 for a fee believed to be
£9.6m (€12.4m).Giroud was on red-hot form for Montpellier after finishing as the
Ligue 1’s top scorer with 21 goals, and also winning the league that same
season. Due to his performances for Montpellier he was signed by
Arsenal and was seen as a replacement for outgoing Robin van Persie.Since joining Arsenal, Olivier Giroud has received so much hate and
criticism about his style of play, consistency, goal scoring ability
etc.All these has in one way or the other led to the relegation of Olivier
giroud to the Arsenal bench several times. But the good thing about
Giroud is his ability to deliver immediately after been called upon.
He has score several important goals for Arsenal including a hat-trick
vs Olympiacos which helped us qualify from the group as runners-up
just second to Bayern Munich.

Giroud has received several backlash from fans at club level and
national team, when the France fans booed him due to there anger of
him been picked ahead of quality strikers like Benzema, Lacazette and
Gameiro. This backlash didn’t stop Giroud from helping the National
team reach UEFA EURO 2016 final which they narrowly lost to Portugal,
a competition in which he scored three times (joint second with
Ronaldo, Payet and Bale).

Giroud has shown resilience during this period of backlash from fans,
signed just for €12.6m, he is close to reaching 100 goals for Arsenal
having scored 91 goals since joining in the summer window of 2012 which
is not bad for a striker signed for just €12.6m.

Due to his commendable performances, he has been rewarded with a
renewed contract.

Giroud has been a fantastic signing for Arsenal. I hope he gets the
credit he deserves.
