Arsenal have no interest in Wolfsburg’s wantaway star Julian Draxler, the Evening Standard understands, with the Gunners instead focusing on reinforcements in defence and attack.

Draxler, who’s association with a move to Arsenal dates back to January 2014, alerted clubs over his availability when stating to German newspaper Bild that he wanted to leave.

The Germany international vented his fury over Wolfsburg’s failure to keep their promise of letting him go should a “top club” come in for him, an agreement that was later categorically denied by the German club in an official club statement.

Despite initial reports from Bild saying that both Arsenal and Juventus had engaged with Wolfsburg over the possibility of signing Draxler, the Evening Standard has moved to claim the Gunners have made no such approach for the £55 million-rated wide playmaker.

With a central defender and a striker standing as Arsenal’s priority in the coming weeks of the summer transfer window, the Evening Standard’s information may also rule out a move for Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez.

Arsenal are keen on signing Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia this summer but are yet to engage in talks with the Spanish club, BBC journalist David Ornstein has revealed.

The Gunners’ interest in the German defender has been well-documented in both the Spanish and British media, with varied reports claiming Arsenal have made a bid in the region of £15 million-£20 million.

Valencia’s valuation of the former Everton and Sampdoria centre back stands at £42 million, according to the Sun, meaning Arsenal’s rumoured approach is sure to be denied.

Ornstein states differently, however, claiming: “I think there is an interest [from Arsenal], but certainly no talks have taken place between the clubs yet.”

The BBC journalist also said Arsenal were yet to reach out to Leicester City to discuss a deal for Riyad Mahrez, meanwhile he was unsure if the Gunners would increase their offer for Olympique Lyonnais’ Alexandre Lacazette.

Torino full back Bruno Peres is thought to favour a move to Arsenal this summer, the Evening Standard has claimed.

Reports of interest in the Brazilian defender from Arsenal’s part has come few and far between so far in this window, but the Evening Standard have stepped up with the bold claim that Peres, also linked with Juventus, would like to join the Gunners before the 31st August.

At the heart of the full back’s choice is his desire to play in the Premier League, as well as the UEFA Champions League.

Torino president Urbano Cairo is allowing Peres the opportunity to make the jump this summer, in turn hoping that the defender’s £17 million price tag can then fund a new contract to keep Chelsea target Nikola Maksimovic in Turin.

The 26-year-old right back, who can also play further up the flank or as a left back, appeared 31 times for the Serie A club last season, scoring three and assisting seven goals.
