Arsenal are considering making a player plus cash bid for Napoli’s star man Gonzalo Higuain, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Gunners are widely-reported to be in the hunt for a new striker this summer, with Higuain’s name becoming the latest to be highlighted as a potential target.

Napoli have so far stood by the player’s release clause resolutely, however, a staggering €94 million (£80 million) price tag, but Arsenal are hopeful they can use Olivier Giroud as bait to lower the Italian club’s demands.

Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is believed to have kept an eye on Giroud’s performance in the Euro 2016 final for France.

Higuain, who scored 36 goals in 35 league games last season, has also been targeted by Chinese club Hebei Fortune, but the 28-year-old rejected the temptation of a lucrative deal.

Arsenal target and current Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan could be available for as little as £23 million this summer, Marca report.

Turan

The Turkey international joined the La Liga champions from Atlético Madrid last summer for £34 million and made 18 appearances (810 minutes of football) since being registered in January 2016.

Turan’s future at Barcelona now looks even more uncertain following the return of Villarreal playmaker Denis Suárez to the Camp Nou, costing little less than £4 million.

Despite the player’s wish to stay and fight for a place in Barcelona’s XI, as claimed by Marca, the Catalan giants view Turan’s departure as good business for the club, even at a cut-price deal.

Inter Milan’s sporting director Piero Ausilio has rebuffed rumours regarding reported Arsenal targets Mauro Icardi and Jeison Murillo.

Icardi

Colombian centre back Murillo had been linked to the Gunners in a £15 million switch by Sky Italia, meanwhile Icardi, despite not appearing to be Arsenal’s primary target, has also had his name associated with a move to North London.

The talk went as far as Icardi’s wife-turn-agent, Wanda Nara, claiming that Inter had placed the striker up for sale, later saying “we’ve understood the club’s economic situation and, evidently, they cannot hold Icardi back.”

Ausilio has wasted no time, however, by reaffirming the club’s position regarding the two South Americans as the Italian club unveiled the signing of Turkish left back Caner Erkin.

“There have never been talks over Jeison Murillo,” Ausilio said. “Icardi signed a new contract a year ago, we’ve made him our captain and he’s not for sale. Anything else is just talk.”

Inter Milan are expected, as per numerous sources, to sell a highly-valued player this summer in order to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.
