Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger has remained coy on his interest of Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette in comments made to French television channel Canal+ Sport.

The Gunners are on the hunt for a new striker after seeing primary target Jamie Vardy confirm his stay at Leicester City with a new four-year-contract.

Lacazette becomes one of many strikers to be linked with Arsenal in the past month but Wenger did, however, refuse to rule out a move for the 25-year-old Lyon star.

“I neither confirm or deny interest, if I say that I like the player it starts speculation,” Wenger said.

Lyon’s valuation of Lacazette is believed to be in the region of £45 million, which has already scared away early interest from West Ham United this summer.

Since the start of the 2014/2015 season, Lacazette has found the back of the net 54 times in 84 appearances.

Japanese striker Takuma Asano has confirmed he has been approached by Arsenal, following the circulation of reports suggesting the Gunners had made bid for the 21-year-old.

Asano has just four international caps to his name, which could complicate his application for a work permit, but the Sanfrecce Hiroshima man appears to be ready for the move nonetheless.

“I was a little stunned [by Arsenal’s offer], but I feel I have the confidence to succeed wherever I go,” Asano said.

“If I am loaned elsewhere, my take on it is that I give it 100%.”

Asano scored 17 times for Sanfrecce last season en route to the club’s conquest of the J-League title in December 2015, as the Arsenal target picked up the Rookie of the Year award.

Turkish champions Besiktas are looking to hold talks with Arsenal within the next few days to discuss a potential move for the Gunners’ back-up goalkeeper David Ospina.

The Colombia international forced his way into the Arsenal XI in the 2014/2015 season, but saw his appearances diminish to just 12 in the following campaign after the arrival of Petr Čech from Chelsea a year ago.

Besiktas are in search of a new goalkeeper, as confirmed by club president Fikret Orman, and will now look to reignite their interest in Ospina, who was linked throughout last summer with a move to Turkey.

Turkish outlet Takvim claim representatives from Besiktas will soon fly out to London in a bid to lure the Copa America star away from the Emirates Stadium.

Ospina joined Arsenal from Ligue 1 club OGC Nice in 2014 for a fee of £3 million after impressing both in French football and throughout Colombia’s 2014 World Cup campaign in Brazil.
