Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger has failed to rule out a move for Leicester City’s N’Golo Kanté, a player the Frenchman believes could leave the Premier League champions this summer.

Wenger expressed his admiration for Kanté, sporadically linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, but also noted the depth the Gunners already had in his position.

In comments made to BeIN Sports, Wenger said: “Kanté is on the list of many clubs. It is an area where we have many players in. We will see what happens in the next two or three weeks.

“It looks like Leicester have bought a player from Nice [Nampalys Mendy] with similar qualities to Kanté, so whether they envisage to lose him or not I don’t know.”

Arsenal are weighing up a move for Sporting striker Islam Slimani after failing to land Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, Portuguese paper A Bola reports.

Slimani comes off the back of his most successful season in Lisbon with 27 goals from 33 league appearances, with reports over the last month suggesting that the Algerian could be ready to bring his three-year spell with the Lions to an end this summer.

The 28-year-old target man was previously linked with a move to Leicester by the Portuguese media with a view to replacing Vardy at the King Power Stadium, but A Bola now believes the England international’s contract renewal opens up the opportunity for Arsenal to make a move for Sporting’s top goalscorer.

The Lisbon outfit won’t be keen to let their talisman go, however, and any deal could be complicated further by the expiry of Slimani’s €30 million release clause earlier this month.

Arsenal must act before the 1st July 2016 if they wish to sign Wolfsburg left back Ricardo Rodríguez for as little as €25 million.

Wolfsburg’s sporting director Klaus Allofs warns clubs that the Swiss international’s release clause is only valid until the first official day of the transfer window, with the player’s price set to soar beyond that date.

Allofs stated to Kicker, “We are on the alert and we are prepared. They [Rodriguez] will not get cheaper; rather the opposite.”

Rodríguez has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past couple of months after it emerged that the player would be keen on a move away from Wolfsburg.

Arsenal are one of a handful of clubs thought to be interested in signing São Paulo prospect Marquinhos Cipriano, according to ESPN Brazil.

The 17-year-old striker is highly thought of by his club, and despite still waiting for his professional debut, Marquinhos has caught the eye with 12 goals in 14 Under-17 State Championship appearances.

The Gunners are believed to have kept tabs on Marquinhos for approximately two years, meanwhile the likes of Juventus and Atlético Madrid also emerge as clubs interested in the teenager’s services.

However, São Paulo remain keen to keep the starlet and have already pointed towards the player’s €30 million release clause in terms of valuation.
