Olympiacos v Arsenal: A Date with destiny

With Arsenal staring down the barrel of Europa League football, anything less than two goal win on Wednesday night will see us in the same tournament as a certain team in white for the first time since the 2010-11 Champions League season.

Furthermore, the last time we dropped down to the second tier of European football was the 1999-2000 season, we went on to lose on penalties to Galatasaray. And to be honest, that tournament is something we can really do without as we’d rather be fighting for the title. and with the injury list increasing, we really don’t need anymore.

Now that we’ve taken our minds off the win against Sunderland at the weekend, its now time to look ahead to what is a must win game which’ll no doubt be dubbed as a “cup final”, or what Joel Campbell has stated anyway.

The reason why we’re in this position is because of the blatant obvious fact that Cech didn’t start the first two matches. A few believe that starting Cech wouldn’t have a made a difference, but each to their own I guess.

A win against Dinamo Zagreb last time out restored some sort of faith that we could qualify, but we’d have to attempt without two marquee players in the form of Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez.

Here’s my starting XI vs Olympiacos:

A two goal win will be enough to see us qualify, so it’ll be up for grabs. Its funny if you think about it, as recent history (2012-13 and 2014-15) shows that a 2-0 win won’t be enough to qualify.
